      Content: Walter SIMS was born on 17th September 1878 at Leigh Farm, St Mary Bourne, Hampshire.  He was the son of Walter SIMS (1828-1914) and Mary BEVIS (1842-1918).  Walter had a brother Sidney, eight half siblings from his father’s first marriage to Rhoda GOODYEAR (Charles, George, William, Fred, John Daniel, Annie Levinia & Wallace) and four half siblings from his mother’s first marriage to William PAGE (William, Isaac, Elizabeth Ann & Jane) plus one further half sibling via his mother Mary, George BEVIS who was her illegitimate son from a relationship she had with a John CUMMINS before she married William PAGE. On the 1st of November 1878, Walter was baptised in the St Mary Bourne Methodist Chapel by the Revd. Robert TAYLOR.  At the time of his baptism it is stated that his abode was St Mary Bourne and that his father Walter was a Labourer.
